Baykeeper says it’s all Selwyn’s Fault! The Davey’s Bay cliff is is on the line of the geological faultline running south west from Hampton Park to Cape Schanck.
The small earth tremor that occurred in Port Phillip in March of this year is likely to have weakened the cliff; and saturating rains in recent weeks would have expanded the clay content, eventually causing the collapse.
