A rollicking good time was had by all at Point Ormond yesterday when Captain Trash and Bronnie (EcoCentre educator) teamed up with the Grade 1 crew from St Joseph’s Primary, Elsternwick, for a litter collection/audit and shoreline seashell survey.
The Captain was out to spread the word about all things starting with ARRRGHH (like REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE, REFUSE and REMOVE)
This seems to go down very well with students, especially if they’ve seen the Baykeepers film. Although, perhaps because he looks suspiciously like the Port Phillip Baykeeper, some of the kids don’t believe he’s a real pirate!
One of the teachers was kind enough to send the following feedback:
“Thank you for such a wonderful learning experience. The children were exhausted on the way home but spoke very excitedly about Captain Trash and the seashells they found! Please pass on my thanks to Captain Trash also. See you next time!”
