Talk about something old and something new. In the same week we heard about the Diprotodon skeleton being unearthed at Sorrento, young naturalist Gio Fitzpatrick found and photographed a marine spider (above) in the Elwood inter-tidal zone. This is only the second record of marine spiders for Victoria, the first being at San Remo in 1902. How good is that!!!
Gio has an incredible knack of highly unusual sightings. His spider find occurred a month or so after he spotted a Great White Shark off Elwood. Some say it’s just a matter of time before he spots a real live Diprotodon!!
