It’s amazing how much junk finds its way to our Bay, so much so that we’ve come to see it as ‘normal’… and if it’s normal it must be OK, right??? Hmmm… maybe not!
Take a stroll along the shore and imagine what it would be like if the junk wasn’t there. All it would take is for a lot of people to make very little effort to properly dispose of their junk. How hard can that be?
We all know the right thing to do… it’s just a matter of wanting to do it.
The Baykeeper shoreline litter surveys, which categorise each litter item, will give us a baywide picture of the types and quantities of litter in the Bay; and where the hotspots are. They’ll also give us a fair idea of where the litter comes from. This info should provide a good basis to develop litter reduction campaigns in the stormwater catchments which feed into the Bay.
Which beach will win the title of cleanest in the Bay??? Which water catchment gets the grungiest gong???
