How good was that?!! Autumn sun and a surprise visit from the one and only Litter Fairy made a magic day.
Members of Earthcare St Kilda, Port Phillip Transition Town, Port Phillip EcoCentre, 3182 Beach Patrol and City of Port Phillip’s Sustainability team hit the beach to spread the love with beach-going punters.
The event showcased the range of local practical action, education, research and advocacy to protect the natural values of the beach and Bay: beach art with Patricia Acuna, a shoreline shell survey, an inter-tidal mollusc survey, beach clean up, information on pest species research and penguin protection.
‘Penguin Panic!’ – dinner party fun for years to come! (pic – Baykeeper) A special feature was the launch ‘Penguin Panic’, a fun and educational board game that tests the players knowledge of penguin life in St Kilda.
Created by Earthcare,Port Phillip EcoCentre and Good Shepherd Youth Services with students at St Columba’s Primary School, the game has been printed with funding from the Victorian EPA’s Inspiring Environmental Solutions program.
